Abstract

Ageing is a global phenomenon, but when it comes to its perception, it is different, depending on social, educational and technological conditions. This article examines the influences of education, professional interaction and digital exposure on the perception of ageing in the group of literate urban women in Islamabad. The survey involved a cross-sectional study of 120 respondents, where structured questionnaire was administered to evaluate attitude towards ageing, self image and societal expectation. The results indicate that the more the educational level, active involvement in work, and the overall digital interaction, the greater is the perception of women on ageing, the more self-confidence, resilience, and an active approach to health and lifestyle. Limited exposure on the other hand is related to anxiety and negative attitudes to physical and social ageing changes. The research highlights the transformational nature of education and digital literacy in influencing ageing perceptions and propose interventions that can be used to enhance positive ageing discourse amongst urban women. Such findings can be applied in policy, health education, and social interventions that aim at the ageing population.
